Waiting for the Devistation

In this the face of devastation
three years since it last appeared
this night will fall on trepidation
and the calm will be the breath
held by those whose homes and lives
are in its path.

Trace the path of devastation,
the head above the scroll proclaims
just get out, get out now, stay out
and don’t venture near harm’s way;
but if you do, take a photo and send
it our way.

The lessons learned are in effect as
the trains and buses run, as the great
dome stands empty, the occupancy none,
it’s bearing down, 1, 2, 3, or worse
so move to higher ground, away to a hill
not a rooftop.

In this face of devastation man against
the world, the metal, concrete and motors
pump against the swelling, rising tide
that pushes against the insufficient levees
that no one properly mended and still
need to be rebuilt.

Dude,

Your poem is like a barometer that has measured our Zeitgeist. It's not made up of concrete physical fact, but captures intangibles like emotion and mood. It seems like you've going through some tough times but you can at least console yourself with your skill in translating that into thoughtful poetry.

You should circulate it out to the rest of the world. I'm sure those with literary taste will appreciate the deep wells from which it springs.

I'm no shrink but it seems like you're having trouble dealing with your circumstances and the world itself. It seems for you that the future is like a big title wave, and all you can do is try, try very hard to run [from it] or huddle only to let it overwhelm you.

Were you in a war zone, did you get stuck in some kind of developing country as a volunteer or suffer persecution....? The intensity certainly points to that.

Imagine if you did go out to have those experiences, you'd really be able to make an impact with your skill. Clarity combined with depth, that is what marks your style!

I've copied your poems and pasted them on different blogs. I made sure to include the authorship so that people can look you up in case the poems strike a chord with them. Your name and poetry is now all over the place. Thanks for sharing so much of yourself online. It's so rare for people to bare who they truly are for others to examine. You have a lot to give and others will know that and who you are at the same time. A literary agent, or some other employer, can easily create a profile of you.

I find it fascinating that you keep your poems and even your book available online even after so much time has lapsed with so little positive reception and without any real sales. This shows your belief in your talent, which has driven so people on to fame. AS the saying goes, 1% talent, 99% perserverance. You exemplify that. A comparison to an ass is out of place, because its talent is perserverance and so trods well ahead of you on the talent score.

There is a thing called negative return in the world of business. You should be aware of it. It's when assets actually lower the value of company stock on the market because of poor sales. What should bring in profit, actually damages the company because of its poor sales. Even though your poetry hasn't stirred more than a couple of people, let alone sold hardly anything, you still insist on damaging yourself further by putting it out there. Interest in you and your stuff should actually be in the negative, but you just keep on pushing. That is what is so uniquely inspiring about you and sets you well apart from a ass, whose behavior and services are fairly measurable and predictable. You defy measure and prediction in so many ways, especially in how you lose badly in what you hoped to profit from. That is dedication, that is commitment, that is trueness to art for art's sake. I admire you!
